Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure in which fat and excess skin with stretch marks are removed from the lower abdomen and the muscles of the abdomen wall are tightened. This procedure can drastically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. Risks

A tummy tuck is a major operation. The risks of tummy tucks include infection and blood clots. These are rare and can be treated. Dr. Heidari carefully evaluates each patient pre-operatively and takes every necessary step to reduce operative risks. Tummy tucks have also been known to leave scarring. Dr. Heidari’s advanced surgical technique ensures that the scar can be hidden with undergarments, and he uses the latest laser technology to significantly reduce the appearance of the scar. Recovery

After the tummy tuck, patients must wear a compression garment for about five weeks. The overall recovery takes a little longer than liposuction. Drains are placed under the surgical area to remove excess fluid and blood. Drains can be easily managed by you or your caretaker, and you can take a shower 24 to 48 hours after drains are removed. Pain is very manageable with pain medication and patients can usually begin walking on the first night after surgery. Patients can return to work within three weeks with their garments on and return to regular exercising in about five to six weeks.
