SKIN CARE
Dr. Heidari strongly believes in non-surgical skin treatments to help patients seeking a rejuvenated facial appearance. Dr. Heidari uses La Roche-Posay products for all skin types to help with facial redness, hyperpigmentation, pre-mature aging and acne prone skin. The La Roche-Posay brand delivers personalized skincare solutions for all skin, even the most sensitive and it’s clinically proven to deliver visible results safely. Among the La Roche-Posay products, Anthelios SX, which features Mexoryl SX, the 1st sun filter in a sunscreen approved by the FDA in 18 years. Our skincare specialists are available to do your skin care evaluation.
For most people, over-the-counter topical is used as the first attempt to treat skin problems and blemishes. These creams and ointments often can not deliver the promised results due to lack of adequate active skin rejuvenating ingredients. The right cosmeceuticals, prescription ointments, creams, cleansers and lotions can augment natural collagen, stimulate skin regeneration, and/or help retain skin elasticity. Tretinoin, known as Retin-A, as well as glycolic acids are widely and effectively used in Biomedic™ and La Roche-Posay products. Dr. Heidari uses Retin-A along with hydroquinone as pre and post treatment in cosmetic laser and photo rejuvenation procedures for maximal skin rejuvenation results. In some cases, individuals may react negatively to Retin-A and experience itchiness, redness, scaliness or a burning sensation for a short period of time. This is a normal process and will always be evaluated and treated accordingly by Dr. Heidari.
COSMETIC INJECTIBLES
Minimally invasive procedures for facial rejuvenation have gained great popularity over the past few years due to their great versatility and effectiveness in non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Cosmetic injectables, fillers, and neurotoxins, are the most common products used for facial rejuvenation with no to very minimal down time. Dr. Heidari understands that not everyone is a surgical candidate either for health reasons or time restrictions. These non-surgical procedures are a safe and effective way of introducing patients to facial rejuvenation.
Cosmetic Fillers
Dr. Heidari uses cosmetic fillers to restore volume and fullness your skin and to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Cosmetic fillers are either hyaluronic acid such as, Juvederm™ Ultra and Ultra Plus, Restylane®. Hyaluronic acid is normally produced by your body, which means that the risk of adverse side effects, such as an allergic reaction, is very small. The other cosmetic filler is calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural gel such as, Radiesse®.
Dr. Heidari uses the latest techniques in placement of cosmetic fillers to add volume to your lips, cheeks and jaw line for a better-balanced and rejuvenated face.
Cosmetic fillers are injected to:
1. Smooth the wrinkles around the mouth
2. Soften the lines around the nose
3. Erase fine lines and even out wrinkles on the forehead
4. Enlarge thin lips
5. Enhance chin and jaw contours
6. Add volume to cheeks
Neurotoxins (BOTOX®, Dysport®)
Neurotoxins injections such as BOTOX® and Dysport® has been the most common cosmetic procedure in the United States over the past 4 years. Dr. Heidari uses these cosmetic injectables to improve the appearance of the dynamic lines in your forehead, between the eyebrows and the crow’s feet. These dynamic lines are created by the muscle action under the skin. These neurotoxins block the chemicals that cause these muscles to contract, thereby relaxing them. The results appear in 3-7 days and last for about 4 to 6 months. The result is a much smoother, younger skin that appears fresh and more rested. Dr. Heidari uses fine needles for these injections with nearly a painless experience for you. He has also used neurotoxins to treat migraine headaches.
Face/Neck Lift

Face/ Neck lift
The Face/neck lift (Rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure used to smooth the loose skin on your face and neck, and to reduce the most apparent signs of aging in the facial area, giving you a more youthful appearance. The procedure involves improving wrinkles around the mouth, the slacking jaw line and sagging jowls. Also fat deposits around the neck are removed and underlying muscles of the face and the neck are tightened, and skin is re-draped on the face and neck. This procedure can give you a fresher look with the face and the neck appearing years younger.
The ideal candidates for a facelift are those who have:
1. Face and neck skin which have begun to sag, but whose skin has elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well defined
2. Loss of a well-defined jaw line
3. Deep wrinkles in the cheeks
4. Loose skin, wrinkles or excess fatty tissue in the neck
Dr. Heidari performs a face-lift by generally making an incision around the natural contour of the ear, and around your earlobe along your hairline. This helps keep any scarring hidden. If a neck lift is performed, you may have a small incision under your chin. After your surgery you may have a drain tube to allow for excess fluid to drain from the incision.
Dr. Heidari often uses the latest techniques in laser resurfacing to complement the results of the face/neck lifting. This unique surgery/laser combination addresses all of the problems of your aging skin such as lack of tone, large pores, skin discoloration, skin and deep tissue laxity for the most comprehensive rejuvenating result.
During a face-lift, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Each individual will vary greatly in his or her anatomy, physical reactions and healing abilities; thus, outcomes are never 100% predictable. Some complications that may arise include hematoma (blood under the skin that must be removed), injury to the nerves that control facial muscles (usually temporary), infection, and reactions to the anesthesia. Dr. Heidari prefers a more conservative approach in smokers due to poor healing potential of the skin.
Recovery
Your bandage will stay in place for 1 to 2 days. You may see some increased swelling in the first 24 to 48 hours after your surgery. Most bruising will disappear in about 2 weeks. Some numbness may occur, and your stitches will remain till your 1-week visit.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing is an effective and exciting procedure that employs an Erbium (YAG) laser to remove areas of your damaged or wrinkled skin. Resurfacing is often used to improve or eliminate the wrinkles around your mouth and eyes and tighten loose skin, but it is also very effective in treating facial scars, age spots or areas of uneven pigmentation.
Ideal candidates for skin resurfacing are:
1. People with wrinkled or sun-damaged skin on the face
2. Brown spots or blotchy skin coloring
3. Fine wrinkles on the lower eyelids and crows feet
4. Acne or other facial scars
5. Certain benign skin growths
6. Vertical (smoker) wrinkles around the mouth
7. Crows feet or superficial facial scars
Dr. Heidari recommends patients undergoing the laser resurfacing to be on glycolic acid peels and some bleaching agents for a few weeks following the laser treatment. This regimen provides you with a better and more even healing, with much less chance of hyper-pigmentation.
Dr. Heidari often treats the full face; however, focus areas of your face can be treated in conjunction with other procedures like a facelift or eyelid surgery. Erbium (YAG) Laser resurfacing has been shown to produce less bleeding, bruising or post-procedure discomfort than other resurfacing methods. During recovery, overall this laser resurfacing method has much less downtime for you.
The procedure is relatively quick, and ranges in length anywhere from a few minutes to 1 1/2 hours depending on the area being covered. This procedure can be performed under general or local anesthetic.
Recovery
After resurfacing, the facial skin has a look of a second-degree burn, which is a normal response to the laser treatment. Post-laser ointment and a gentle spray wash are used to care for the treated area during this sensitive period. Most of the laser-treated areas are fully healed after 6-9 days after the laser treatment. The patient might also have mild redness on their skin for an additional 1-2 weeks.
Eyelid Rejuvenation

Blepharoplasty (eyelid rejuvenation)
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, can enhance your appearance and self-confidence by opening up your upper face and eliminating the tired look! As people age, the eyelid stretches, muscles weaken, and fat accumulates around the eyes, causing “bags” or excess skin to become prominent. During your consultation with Dr. Heidari, he will assess whether both upper and lower eyelids need improvement for the best aesthetic results.
The ideal candidates for eyelid surgery are men and women who are physically healthy, 35 years or older. However, if sagging eyelids run in your family, it may be advisable to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.
Dr. Heidari performs eyelid surgery under general or local anesthesia. If done under local anesthesia, he will numb the area around your eyes, along with giving you a mild oral or IV sedative. The actual surgery takes one to two hours. The incisions made during the surgery follow the natural lines of your eye.
Laser eyelid surgery is the latest technique in cosmetic eyelid surgery. Dr. Heidari uses the latest laser techniques to further tighten the skin around your eyelids safely. This technique limits the skin removal when indicated, therefore decreasing risks of eyeball exposure and dryness that sometimes occur after the traditional eyelid surgery.
As with any procedure there may be complications. These include infection, or a reaction to the anesthesia used. Minor complications that commonly follow eyelid surgery include double or blurred vision for a few days. This is caused by swelling at the corner of the eyelids and the slight asymmetry in healing or scarring. Following surgery, some patients may have difficulty closing their eyes when they sleep for a few days. Adhering to the physician’s advice on pre- and post-op care will greatly reduce the risk of complications.
Recovery
After surgery, you will feel tightness in your eyelids. A cold compress and elevation will help keep the swelling and bruising down. For the first few weeks following the procedure, you may experience excessive tearing, sensitivity to light, and temporary changes in your vision such as blurring or double vision. Bruising lasts 1-2 weeks depending upon your skin type. Your stitches will be removed 4-6 days after your surgery.
Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty(nose reshaping)
Surgery of the nose is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. The ideal candidates for a Rhinoplasty are those people who are looking for a narrower bridge and a more refined nasal tip.In the past, rhinoplasty was performed simply to reduce the different structures of the nose creating an often-unnatural operated look to the nose. As our knowledge has increased about the detailed anatomical and physiological characteristics of the nose, this surgery has evolved into an art form. Dr. Heidari meticulously rearranges and reshapes the nasal bone, cartilage and skin to create a well-balanced nose that enhances your face.
Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour or two, though more complicated procedures may take longer. The surgery starts with the skin of the nose being separated from its supporting framework of the bone and cartilage, which is then sculpted to the desired shape. The skin is then re-draped over the new framework. After the surgery is complete, a splint is then applied to help the nose maintain its new shape. Nasal packs or soft splints may be placed in the nostrils to stabilize the septum. This is the dividing wall between the air passages.
Recovery
After surgery, during the first twenty-four hours, the face will feel puffy, the nose may ache, and the patient may experience a dull headache. The patient should plan on resting with their head elevated for the first day. There will be swelling and bruising around the eyes, reaching a peak after two to three days. Usually by 7-10 days all packing, dressings, splints and stitches will be removed.
